What the checker measures

Pure white background

Amazon requires RGB 255, 255, 255. The checker measures whether the image border is pure white and how much of the remaining background is. Amazon allows light shadows around the product, but not grey tones, frames or shadows running to the edge.

Product size

Amazon asks for at least 85% of the image area. The checker measures how much width, height and area your product fills. Narrow products can never cover 85% of a square; for them, what counts is that the longest side is almost fully used.

Distance to the edge

The whole product has to be in the frame, and shadows must not run to the edge. If anything reaches the edge, the checker tells you.

Image size

Amazon won't accept uploads under 500 pixels on the longest side, or over 10,000. Zoom starts at 1,000 pixels.

File format

Amazon accepts JPEG, PNG, TIFF and non-animated GIF. The checker reads the format from the file itself, not from its extension.

What a pixel check can't do

A pixel check can't reliably spot text, logos, props, packaging or multiple views. Amazon still checks them. Very light or white products also can't always be separated cleanly from a white background; the frame in the preview shows what was measured.

Frequently asked questions

Do you store my image?

No. The check runs entirely in your browser. The image is not uploaded and not stored.

Will Amazon accept my image if everything is green?

Not guaranteed. The checker covers what can be measured. Amazon also checks content such as text, props and packaging, and decides itself which images are displayed.

Why does the checker measure too little area for my white product?

Light product parts that touch the white background can't be told apart from it. Check the frame in the preview. Amazon's own check has the same difficulty with white products, which is why a slight edge or contact shadow helps.
